Peer Pressure

-

The theme of this week’s comic is “peer pressure.”  Parents: Sorry about the full-frontal.

Anyway, I created this piece partially as a tribute to my old friend Rene Gauthreaux, gave me my first writing gig five years ago, writing for a rag called Six Ten Split, which (unfortunately) ceased publication after Hurricane Katrina. Those were the good old days, they were. Rene would often drink away my wages long before before payday arrived (he tried to pay me in clam shells and simoleans on more than one occasion). His front porch was often littered in detritus— empty jars of mayonnaise, dead raccoons, moldy Rubix Cubes, and such and such. Rene is currently a sea captain and space pirate, as shown in this self-portrait by Mr. Gauthreaux:

Clearly, there are some heinous things about to go down in this drawing, but I can’t bring myself to speak of them. I’ve often wondered why Rene chose to portray himself with a blow dryer duct-taped to his left hand and rubber bondage shackles around his knees, but some questions are best left unanswered…

Bonus (“Even More Cash for Your Gold!”):

I discovered a pretty decent washboard punx band this past week on Paper + Plastick Records. They are called Greenland is Melting. Click here to listen. Click here to download their album for free.

It seems more like the dolphin in front is getting high of Sharpie(TM) fumes.

i was asked recently about the empty mayo jars because i claim to be allergic to eggs and by association mayonnaise gives me a headache. funny thing was i loved mayo so much that i had to drink to numb myself from the egg induced headaches. The rubix cubes… that can only be explained by patton oswalt… 2:38 minutes in… that story is erroneously linked to Robert Evans but it really was about me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkN226PToig

This has been a fine and fitting tribute. I feel like I’m covered in spiders right now. Holy snozz-cobbeler!
